International Day of Commemoration in Memory of the Victims of the Holocaust
January 27 All day

A 7 day tour to the intersection of Jewish history and culture with world societies and religions in search of greater mutual understanding. A secular Byzantine church, in the most Muslim country in Europe, more secular than Islam and perhaps the most tolerant in the world.
Albania’s Jewish history begins with the arrival of shipwrecked Roman boats carrying Jewish slaves from Israel, shortly after the destruction of the Second Temple. (Archaeologists recently discovered the ruins of a synagogue in Saranda, dating to the fifth century.)
